Celebrate the Tattoos you Love and Clear the Ones you Regret with PicoSure® at The Laser Institute of Pinehurst
Pinehurst, NC, August 20, 2014 – For those who harbor tattoo regret stemming from outdated art, a messy job, or a symbolic gesture that has lost its significance, you now have your chance to start fresh with a clean canvas. Whether the goal is to clean up the lines of an existing tattoo or totally remove it, The Laser Institute of Pinehurst, office of Ofelia N. Melley, MD can help you with the assistance of the first FDA-cleared picosecond aesthetic laser, PicoSure®. Recognized as the first significant improvement in the treatment of tattoo removal in over 20 years, PicoSure can effectively erase tattoos with fewer treatments and better results.
“Just like a relationship, tattoo trends can easily come and go, leaving one wondering years later what the reason, or lack thereof, of getting the tattoo was in the first place,” states Dr. Melley. “Some people ask to remove all traces of ink, while others choose to cover it up with another tattoo. They can then come in for laser treatments to clean up what can’t be covered. “
An unparalleled breakthrough in tattoo removal technology, PicoSure’s PressureWave™ gently delivers ultra-short pulses of energy to the tattoo ink in trillionths of a second without injury to the surrounding skin. This shatters the ink into tiny particles that are easily eliminated by the body. Based on physician studies1,2 PicoSure has proven efficacy on difficult ink colors, as well as previously-treated tattoos, for better clearance with fewer laser treatments and improved recovery time.
Surveys results vary but it is estimated that 1 in 5 Americans have at least one tattoo, According to The America Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), more Americans received tattoo removal treatment in 2013 than in past years. Up by 11% in 2013, tattoo removal has also seen a boost from different age groups as more American adults marked their middle age by trading out their old tattoos. PicoSure has made tattoo removal faster1,2 so if you are looking to clear your existing tattoo in efforts to celebrate a new one call 910.295.1130 to learn how PicoSure can help you clear your canvas.

Laser Institute of Pinehurst Now Open Saturdays
Dr. Ofelia Melley, of NC’s Laser Institute of Pinehurst, now opens doors on Saturdays to accommodate customer demand and convenience.
“The basic motto of our practice is 'Look younger, feel better'. I’ve been impressed and encouraged by the initiative patients have taken to better care for their physical being once they are pleased with their outer appearance. When you look in the mirror and see healthier, younger looking skin it inspires you to eat healthier, lose weight, begin or renew a workout regimen and even stop smoking. I have patients that are healthier and look younger than when they first started coming to The Laser Institute of Pinehurst over 5 years ago. It’s rewarding to see the impact our services have on one’s self esteem, well-being and general health.”
As a Fellow of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Melley stays active and informed in the field of cosmetic services. She has stood on the Advisory Board for Merz Pharmaceutical, the Foundation Board of The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians and has served 2 terms as a Board member for the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Melley often speaks to local organizations on skin care, lasers and injectables.
Since opening in 2005 The Laser Institute of Pinehurst has grown with services, staff and product. A total of 7 lasers are on site to treat a variety of concerns such as aging skin, unwanted hair, port-wine stains, warts, acne, acne scarring, and wrinkles. Botox, Juvederm and Radiesse procedures are also available and performed exclusively by Dr. Melley. “A Liquid Facelift” is a way to describe the effects of injectables; frown lines are easily smoothed, as well as hollows and crow’s feet. The “tired look” can be erased away and volume added to lips and cheeks with little to no down time. Further aesthetic care performed by highly trained licensed professionals includes facials, chemical peels, waxing, and rejuvenating treatments for one’s skin and body. Skin care products are specifically chosen to complement and enhance a patient’s skin type and can be purchased on site or on the online store. Many of the clients at The Laser Institute of Pinehurst are only part-time residents of North Carolina yet they find it more convenient and effective to have all their skin care needs managed by The Laser Institute of Pinehurst.
