Our Providers
Ofelia Nickel Melley, MD
Dr. Ofelia Melley is a board-certified physician located in Pinehurst, North Carolina. She graduated from The Autonomous University of Guadalajara in 1980 and proceeded to complete her internship at George Washington University and a residency in Family Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She is double board certified in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. The first part of her career was in traditional medicine practicing as a Family Physician and as an Emergency Medicine Physician. After 22 years of family medicine, emergency medicine and teaching, she founded The Laser Institute of Pinehurst in 2006, quickly becoming busy in aesthetics, laser medicine, and anti-aging.
Dr. Melley lives with her husband of 30+ years and their 2 dogs in Pinehurst NC. They both love to exercise, hike, and travel when they find time in their busy work schedules.
Leading a healthy lifestyle and providing pathways for her patients is the basis of her approach to health and wellness. She has completed certifications in Weight Management and Bio-identical Hormone Therapy, and provides an advanced approach to managing weight and wellness.
Chassidy Young, PA-C
Chassidy is our Physician Assistant and has been a part of The Laser Institute of Pinehurst family since 2018. She earned her PA degree from East Carolina University in 2011. She started her career practicing Family Medicine before beginning her concentration in Aesthetics in 2015.
Chassidy loves making her patients look and feel their very best. She specializes in laser skin treatments and injectables including Botox, Dysport, and various dermal fillers. Starting with the consultation, Chassidy strives to gain an accurate understanding of her patient’s concerns and develops a customized treatment plan to work towards helping her patients achieve their skin care goals.
Chassidy's favorite thing to do is to travel to fun places with her husband and two children. She also loves attending local events, especially if there are food trucks and live music! She loves seeing the faces of her wonderful patients out in public, so please be sure to say hello when you see her around town at the next local event!
Alicia Renee Deese
Alicia joined The Laser Institute of Pinehurst at its inception in 2006 and has many years of experience in the skin care industry. She has been a respected mentor to many in her profession.
Alicia attended Central Carolina Community College to earn her Aesthetics License and Sandhills Community College for her Instructors License. She is a Skin Care Professional with certifications and advanced training in aesthetics, facial and body procedures, skin rejuvenation, and micro-needling, as well as laser, IPL, and radiofrequency.
Alicia has a passion for the skin care industry and stays current on techniques to better herself and to help clients receive the absolute best results. Not only is she eager to learn, but she is also gifted at sharing her knowledge and training her teammates.
Born in Sanford, Alicia has resided in Moore County since she married her husband Chad in 2004. She enjoys being a mom to her three beautiful children. Watching each of them grow and flourish in their perspective sports and activities is one of her favorite things to do. In addition, she is also a pet parent to Ollie, a Toy Pomeranian and Buddy, a cat.
Amber O'Berry
Amber is a Medical Aesthetician who joined The Laser Institute of Pinehurst in 2012. She studied skin care at Sandhills Community College as well as at the Paul Mitchell school. She has also earned additional certifications and training in derma-planing, microdermabrasion, HydraFacial, chemical peels, micro-needling, radio-frequency skin tightening, Sculpsure body contouring, as well as brow, lash and waxing services. Facials are Amber’s specialty as she seemingly cleanses your skin and your soul at the same time, as her patients tend to leave with a relaxing “glow”.
Amber says, “Hands down! She believes in a good skin care routine and a good “friend-sthetician”. Let her be that for you. She will assist you with your concerns, guide you through a personalized skin care program and celebrate your results!
Living all her life in the Sandhills, she resides locally with her husband Dewayne, four amazing children and two fur-babies, Buddy and Sadie.
Tina Weathersby
Tina, the Practice Manager at The Laser Institute of Pinehurst, earned a BSBA in Marketing from Western Carolina University and obtained an AA in Business from Brevard College.
In the past she has worked as a Director of Marketing, Office Manager, and Store Partner. She joined TLIOP in January of 2019 after being a stay-at-home mom and home educator for 13 years.
A long-time resident of Whispering Pines, she and her husband Chad have two children (and a son in law). Remington is the family’s much loved black lab.
Tina enjoys spending time with her family, serving actively in her church, and hiking in the mountains, where she grew up. She also enjoys time at the beach and has a special appreciation for the North Carolina Coast.
Candy Baughman
Candy comes to us from Mentor, Ohio with over 15 years of extensive Customer Service and Administrative Assistant, Healthcare office experience. To our front desk staff and clients, she brings to us her professionalism and contagious smile.
She is married, lives in Whispering Pines with her husband and has one daughter. Candy loves living here in the Pinehurst area. Her favorite places to visit are resale shops and our local pottery country. She looks forward to seeing you at your next appointment.
Debby Carter, RN
Debby Carter, RN has been a member of The Laser Institute of Pinehurst since 2019.
Debby specializes in laser treatments for skin resurfacing, hair removal, tattoo removal, and microneedling. Because she has been treating aesthetic patients since 2011, she has many years of experience with injectables like Botox and Dysport as well as dermal fillers. In addition, Debby also assists with our wellness patients.
Debby resides in Southern Pines. She has a passion for horses and enjoys riding almost every day.
Debby is a selfless individual and strives to serve others, therefore, you will find her volunteering at her church on a regular basis.
Abby Hiller, DNP
Abby Hiller, an Iowa native, is a board-certified nurse practitioner who has a passion for holistic care and wellness. She began her nursing career in Women's Health at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, then continued her education at Creighton University, earning a doctorate degree in 2019.
Since joining the TLIOP team in 2021, she has focused on preventative medicine, holistic wellness, and functional health care for men and women of all ages. Her specific areas of expertise are nutrition, weight loss, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Abby's goal is to partner with her patients to help them reach their individualized wellness goals.
In her free time, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She values physical fitness, time with friends, and a good pair of sneakers. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to occupy the Wellness Nurse Practitioner role and looks forward to serving as a local advocate to those working towards health goals.
Maren Orihuela
Maren joined The Laser Institute of Pinehurst in 2023 and serves as a Front Office Receptionist. As the youngest member of the TLIOP team, she brings a lot of young ideas and personal determination. Maren has been in customer service since 2019 and strives to assist patients to the best of her ability.
Maren has a passion for skin care and even before she came to TLIOP, she researched different products and learned how they could benefit herself and others. She loves makeup, dancing, painting, traveling, and spending time with her husband and family.
She has lots of desires for her future, but most intriguingly she hopes to one day own and ride a pink motorcycle.
Kim Mallberg
Kim started her journey with The Laser Institute of Pinehurst in 2023. She serves our patients in the Front Office and has quickly become a staff morale booster with her endless stash of snacks and constantly exhibiting care for her teammates in various ways.
Kim came to us with over fifteen years of spa and wellness experience as well as many years in customer service.
Kim is married to her husband of 25 years, and they have three beautiful daughters. In her spare time, she loves to read, shop, and spend time with her family. However, her most favorite past time is traveling to places near and far. She’s always ready for her next destination, and we are grateful to have her here at The Laser Institute of Pinehurst.
