Kybella® (deoxycholic acid) is an FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to reduce moderate to severe submental fullness (fat under the chin). Ideal for patients who are self-conscious or otherwise unhappy about fatty areas on their upper necks/chins, this prescription treatment is an effective, nonsurgical, fat-reducing strategy for improving one’s profile.

Performed by a trained healthcare specialist, each Kybella® treatment takes just 15 to 20 minutes to complete. A session involves multiple small injections into the problem area, sending Kybella® deep into the skin. The Kybella® is a synthetic version of the same deoxycholic acid that is found naturally in the body and helps absorb fats. This destroys fat cells in such a way that the body has to eliminate them over time, leaving a smoother, leaner chin area in their place. While each patient is different and the number of treatments can vary, patients may receive up to six treatments, which should be spaced at least one month apart.
